A Grand Old Neighborhood for a Grand Old Birthday

Two hundred fifty years have flown,

since seeds of liberty were sown.

SLI stands as a living page,

of a nation coming into age.

Let’s line our streets with red, white, and blue,

a tribute bold, and deep, and true.

From every porch and gable high,

let Stars and Stripes salute the sky.

It’s more than cloth on a rigid pole,

it’s the neighborhood’s heart; our community’s soul.

To honor the past and the path we’ve trod,

in this Semiquincentennial year of God.

So hang your colors for all to see,

the enduring spirit of the free.

Let’s make our historic homes look bright,

in a wave of pride and each morning’s light.
